Anyone need a running back?

After losing multiple backs in J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill to season-ending injuries before the season even started, the Baltimore Ravens are now stockpiling veteran running backs like bottled water and toilet paper before a natural disaster.

Late Thursday night, the Ravens reportedly added former Saints running back Latavius Murray to the roster after adding Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman to the practice squad earlier in the week.

Which running back will start the season for the Ravens?

For the moment, Ty'Son Williams, the Ravens undrafted second-year player out of BYU should get the bulk of the carries to begin the season. Williams was second on the depth chart behind Edwards after the Dobbins injury, and is already familiar and comfortable with the Ravens' offensive playbook.

If Williams performs well out of the gate, in theory, he should have the opportunity to hang onto the starting spot. He's healthy, which already gives him a massive leg up on the competition, and gets a matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football, who ranked 30th in points allowed in 2020, as well as 30th in touchdowns allowed to running backs.

Murray will still get opportunities, but perhaps his best football is behind him.

As for Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman, the Ravens are looking to see if there's any sort of gas left in the tank. Bell averaged 43 yards per game over the past two seasons and barely had any opportunities with the Kansas City Chiefs after they picked him up following his release from the New York Jets. Freeman started four games last season with the Giants, but only averaged 3.2 yards per carry.

Ravens are no longer the favorites to win the AFC North

With the loss of both Edwards and starting cornerback Marcus Peters on Thursday, the Ravens saw their division odds slip over at WynnBET to +135. Cleveland has now become the favorite in the division at +125 odds.

The Ravens kick off their season Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. The stadium opened up for the first time a season ago, but this will be the first opportunity for fans to watch in a packed house with COVID-19 protocols taking place last year.

Baltimore still remains a four-point favorite over at WynnBET, with the over/under on total points at 50.0.
