Will we have our ALCS matchup set after Sunday’s MLB action?

The Houston Astros took 18 innings to close out the Seattle Mariners in Game 3 on Saturday and sweep their series in the ALDS.

Now, the Cleveland Guardians, fresh off of a come-from-behind win on Saturday, have a chance to finish the New York Yankees in four games.

Here are a few of the best bets to make for this game, including a prop on the struggling Yankees offense:

New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction and Best Bets

  • Yankees Team Total UNDER 8.5 Hits (-150)
  • Guardians Moneyline (+146)

Yankees Team Total UNDER 8.5 Hits (-150)

This may be the easiest bet on the board on Sunday, as New York has yet to clear six hits in a game this series. If the Yankees aren’t hitting a home run, they can’t seem to get a hit at all.

The Yankees have also struck out a ton in the first three games against Cleveland, so you’re not even sweating a ton of balls in play. The Yankees’ top six hitters were a combined 1-for-23 in Game 3, and I don’t expect much to change against Cal Quantrill and this vaunted Cleveland bullpen in Game 4.

Aaron Boone doesn’t have a ton of options to turn the offense around, and the Yankees should have won Game 3 after scoring five runs, but the bullpen failed them in the ninth.

With James Karinchak and Emmanuel Clase both available to relieve Quantrill, I don’t see the Yankees stringing together nine or more hits, even if they win the game.

Cleveland Guardians Moneyline (+146)

If I’m fading the Yankees in the hit department, I might as well fade them on the road in this game as well.

Cleveland has the advantage in the bullpen, and it’s had the advantage on offense the last two games, stringing together 15 hits in Game 3 and picking up timely hits in extra innings in Game 2.

Even with Gerrit Cole on the mound in this game, I don’t trust the Yankees to put together a complete game behind him. Plus, Cole has been prone to the long ball, allowing a home run in nine straight starts.

Quantrill has pitched really well this season (3.38 ERA), and he had an ERA of 2.32 in his final nine regular season starts. Unless the Yankees wake up offensively, a close benefits this Cleveland team, and I think the Guardians pull off the series upset on Sunday.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
