Sandy Alcantara UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs (-145) - Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies

There hasn’t been a pitcher better than Sandy Alcantara this season, and he’s got a chance to slow down a streaky Philadelphia Phillies team on Wednesday.

After throwing a six-hit shutout against the Cincinnati Reds in his last outing, Alcantara has a 1.67 ERA over his last six starts and allowed more than two earned runs in only three of his 22 starts.

What’s even crazier about Alcantara’s dominance, is that two of his starts where he allowed three-plus earned runs came against the New York Mets. In his other 20, he’s allowed three earned runs just once.

He has held the Phillies to two runs in each of his outings against them, pitching 6.1, 7.2 and 8.0 innings in those starts. He’s been too good this season not to trust, and you’re getting less juice on this prop than normal at -145. – Peter Dewey

Jeffrey Springs OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+100) - Tampa Bay Rays at Milwaukee Brewers

My initial thoughts on the matchup today weren’t exactly in Springs’ favor. After all, the Brewers’ lineup is very right-handed dominant and traditionally, that works in their favor when paired up against a left-hander.

However, those are the teams that Springs performs best against. Against left-handers, Springs only strikes out 20.9% of hitters with a batting average against (BAA) him of .253. When facing right-handed hitting, his strikeout numbers jump all the way to 27.9% and a BAA of only .226.

Furthermore, Milwaukee strikes out the fourth-most number of times against left-handers this season, trailing only the Miami Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles.

Springs should clear this number easily and I love the value behind it at even-odds. – Ben Heisler

Taijuan Walker OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-129) – Cincinnati Reds at New York Mets

Walker is in a slump right now. He’s come under this line in three straight games, but we’re betting on some positive regression tonight. The Reds have the fourth-highest strikeout rate in the league. That means tonight, we’re betting on a great pitcher to have a decent game against a terrible strikeout team.

Yup. I like that bet. – Donnavan Smoot
