After a few cold days, the BetSided team got back on track Wednesday night, hitting on three of four props in the Big Leagues; while coming up just a half run short on the OVER for Tampa Bay Rays’ starter Corey Kluber’s earned runs total of 2.5.

For Thursday, we're targeting two different first inning totals (one no-run-first-inning, or NRFI, and one yes-run-first-inning, or YRFI), while also grabbing an over on one of the stud pitchers in tonight's New York Mets-Atlanta Braves matchup.

Don't forget, you can also find game-by-game betting plays and previews for each matchup on our MLB Picks page, as well as every team's probable pitchers, weather report and more.

Chicago Cubs - Baltimore Orioles YRFI (-115)

The Cubs are not a very good offense in general this season, but they know how to get off to a hot start. Chicago owns the fifth-best first inning offense, generating 0.64 runs. It is the perfect storm for them to take the lead early on today against Spenser Watkins.

While Watkins has been solid this season, he has had issues in the first frame. His first inning ERA is 5.14 compared to 1.93 in each of the next two innings. - Josh Yourich

New York Mets - Atlanta Braves NRFI (-145)

Arguably the best pitching matchup in MLB on Thursday is between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, with Jacob deGrom taking on Max Fried.

deGrom has been dominant in three starts this season, allowing just three earned runs and registering 15.1 strikeouts per nine innings.

Fried is in the midst of a terrific season as well, allowing three or fewer runs in nine straight starts and posting a 2.18 ERA and 1.99 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) this season. This season, Fried has allowed just three runs in the first inning (1.23 ERA) and is holding opponents to just a .152 batting average in the first.

This should be a rock fight, and I expect these pitchers to trade scoreless innings in the first. – Peter Dewey

Max Fried OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-145) - Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets

Fried isn’t a strikeout pitcher, per se, but in 22 starts this year, he’s only gone under 4.5 strikeouts a total of six times. In fact, there hasn’t been a start this season where he’s had less than four punchouts in a game.

Obviously, if he only gets four tonight at home against the Mets, that rationale doesn’t matter much. However, his strikeouts/nine innings goes up to 8.59 at home compared to 7.82 on the road. He’s also been terrific vs. New York over his last several starts; averaging more than 10 K/9 over his last six games and hitting this over in every game..

-145 is a bit pricey, but Fried has proven time-and-time again that this is a matchup that suits him well. - Ben Heisler
