There are plenty of live underdogs on the slate today. I like Pittsburgh to at least cover the run line against Miami and maybe they’re even worth sprinkling a little on the moneyline. I picked the Mets straight up as an underdog against Atlanta.

Yet, the best underdog bet of the day isn’t either of those two. We have to head to St. Louis for that and while we’re at it we can head to WynnBET Sportsbook for odds on this and every MLB game today.

Best MLB Underdog Pick Today

The Cardinals are 3-7 in their last ten and their record has fallen to 46-42. They face the Phillies in the final game of their four-game series tonight and Philadelphia is now 46-40. Though the Cardinals have struggled lately, they are up 2-1 in this series this season and have Mile Mikolas on the mound. Mikolas is 5-7 but with a 2.72 ERA and he is opposed by 5-6 Aaron Nola, with his 3.15 ERA.

The reason the Cardinals are a home underdog is because of their struggles lately that have seen them fall 2.5 games back of Milwaukee for the division. Mikolas is a good pitcher, but oddsmakers see him and Nola as equals or favor Nola slightly. That matchup isn’t why I love this bet. The reason is the Cardinals organization.

The last time the Cardinals finished under .500 was 2007. That is insane organizational stability, and over that stretch of 16 years, they have a record of 106-100 as a home underdog, the best record in the league. Tampa Bay is the only other team over .500 over that stretch.

If you prefer more recent history, since 2021 began, they are 20-20 and since 2019 they are 38-30 behind only the Yankees and the Braves. They are 6-7 as home underdogs this year and one more win would bring them right back to .500 and we know the Cardinals don’t stay under .500 for long.

Pick: Cardinals +110
