The New York weather could have been a little more welcoming for the lone game of the night in Major League Baseball.

The Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees square off this evening in Game 5 of the ALDS from Yankee Stadium, as the winner moves on to the ALCS to face the Houston Astros. While first pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. eastern time, there are reports of rain in the forecast that could delay first pitch and potentially impact the playing conditions for the matchup.

Before you consider your wagers ahead of tonight's winner-take-all matchup, it's important to note how the weather projected at Yankee Stadium this evening could impact the odds.

Let's take a look at tonight's forecast, along with the most up-to-date lines for Game 5 in the Bronx.

Guardians vs. Yankees Weather

FORECAST: 63 degrees and overcast skies. Precipitation expected in the 50-60% range from the 7 p.m. ET hour through 10 p.m. ET. Wind blowing out to left-center field at 5-7 mph for a slight advantage to hitters.

We dove into tonight's starting pitching matchup in today's probable pitchers, but we could see multiple rain delays in Game 5 this evening, leading to a full-on bullpen and matchup game.

If that ends up being the case, the slight edge shifts over to Cleveland despite the underdog tag on the road. The Yankees finished the regular season with a slightly better bullpen ERA (2.97) than the Guardians (3.05), but Cleveland outperformed New York in bullpen Fielding Independent Pitching, or FIP, as well as in strikeouts per nine innings and wins-above-replacement, or WAR.

Jameson Taillon has made one appearance this postseason and it didn't go well; allowing two earned runs on three hits without recording an out in New York's Game 2 loss to Cleveland at Yankee Stadium last Friday.

His counterpart, Guardians starter Aaron Civale makes his postseason debut this evening. He last pitched 12 days ago in the regular season, going six innings in a 9-2 win vs. the Kansas City Royals.
