For just the second time all season, Game 2 of the ALCS between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros offered up a home weather report for the ballpark.

In 80 of their 82 ballgames this year, the Astros played with a roof in a climate-controlled environment in Houston, leading to a Yankees skipper Aaron Boone citing the different conditions possibly leading to their l

Ahead of Game 1 of the World Series, Major League Baseball decided to go back to what the Astros know best, electing to close the roof for the first two games of the World Series.

Regardless, let's take a look at the forecast for Friday evening, along with what to expect from both starting pitchers.

Phillies vs. Astros Weather

FORECAST: 70 degrees and overcast. Rain and potential thunderstorms in the forecast in Houston. with the wind blowing at 10-12 mph.

Does the Closed Roof Help or Hurt the Phillies vs. the Astros?

Considering that Astros Game 1 starter Justin Verlander is on pace to take home another American League Cy Young award, he shouldn't have many concerns playing with the roof closed at home on Friday night. In 16 starts in stadiums with the roof closed this year, the bulk of which came at home, Verlander pitched to a 1.30 ERA over 97 innings with a strikeout rate 32.3%.

On the other side for Philadelphia, starter Aaron Nola only pitched in three games in closed roof ballparks this season; pitching to a 3.86 ERA, striking out 20 batters over 18.2 innings without allowing a single walk.

As I wrote in my initial Game 1 preview, the advanced numbers for Verlander and Nola make it a much closer matchup than most might expect; offering very solid value on the board for the Phillies as Verlander remains in search of his first win in the World Series. The 39-year old is 0-6 with a 5.68 ERA in World Series games over his career.
