The ALCS and NLCS both could both be wrapped up on Sunday if the Houston Astros (up 3-0 on the New York Yankees) and Philadelphia Phillies (up 3-1 on the San Diego Padres) can grab wins in today’s action.

We'll see if both games are played, as rain in the forecast at both Yankee Stadium and Citizens Bank Park. Does that give value to the total or a team in either game?

The BetSided team breaks down how the weather will affect each MLB game all season long. Here’s how Sunday’s forecast could play a role in these playoff matchups:

San Diego Padres vs. Philadelphia Phillies Weather

  • FORECAST: 62 degrees with thunderstorms expected at game time. Chance of rain of 58%. Wind blowing in from center field at 9 mph, helping the UNDER.

The Phillies and Padres already have their aces in Zack Wheeler and Yu Darvish on the mound in this game, and now the weather is telling us runs could be at a premium with the rain and wind.

If anything, I’d play the UNDER in this game after Wheeler threw seven innings of one-hit ball and Darvish allowed just two runs across seven innings in Game 1. There’s a chance this game could get postponed if the rain doesn’t let up.

Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees Weather

  • FORECAST: 60 degrees with thunderstorms expected at game time. Chance of rain of 76%. Wind blowing towards the right field line at 10 mph, slightly helping the UNDER.

The Yankees and Astros are in a tough spot on Sunday, as there is rain expected in the New York area for the next four days. That could lead to several postponements, but it’s possible the two teams will attempt to play Game 4 tonight.

With the rain and wind, the UNDER seems like a logical play, although if the game is stopped because of the elements it could hurt the Yankees, as their bullpen doesn’t match up with Houston’s.

Still, New York has been horrible on offense this series, which makes the UNDER the logical play in Game 4.
