What’s better than October baseball?

With the postseason in full swing in Major League Baseball, we have a win-or-go-home matchup today between the New York Mets and San Diego Padres.

New York hosts the third and final game of this National League wild card series, and we have a preview for this game and a breakdown of the probable pitchers to help you bet on this matchup.

It’s also important to know the weather forecast for Sunday’s Game 3, as it could play a factor in the outcome, especially if you’re betting on the total. The teams split the first two games of this series with a total of eight home runs being hit so far in the series.

Let’s dive into the latest forecast and odds for this matchup:

San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets Weather for Game 3

  • Forecast: 58 degrees and clear skies, temperature dipping below 55 degrees during the game. Wind blowing out to right center field at 8 mph, which should slightly help the OVER.

Despite the strong pitching on both teams, we’ve actually seen quite a few runs in this series. Game 1 ended with eight combined runs (the Padres put up a seven spot) while Game 2 finished with 10 combined runs in the Mets’ 7-3 win.

While other series, such as the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians were extremely low scoring, this series has certainly seen the bats take center stage.

Even though it will be a bit colder in a night game in New York, the wind should help the ball carry a bit in this matchup. Joe Musgrove (22) and Chris Bassitt (19) both allowed a good amount of homers this season.

With the total in this game currently at just 6.5 runs, the OVER would be the way I lean in Game 3.
