Monday Night Football Best Prop Bets for Steelers vs. Colts (Pat Freiermuth Sitting on a Gold Mine)
By Ben Heisler
The Indianapolis Colts were once the consensus favorites to win the AFC South division at the beginning of the season, but at no point were the Pittsburgh Steelers at any point expected to contend in the AFC North this year.
Now, to close out Week 12, two under .500 squads battle in Indianapolis as one of the longest tenured head coaches in the NFL, Mike Tomlin faces off against the newest coach in the NFL's fraternity in Jeff Saturday.
Both teams are starting to get healthy and have been playing better football of late, so before diving into ways to wager on the matchup, let's first take a look at the latest odds:
You can read up on how I plan to bet tonight's matchup here, but if you're looking for a few other wagering angles specifically on prop bets, you've arrived at your destination.
Here are three of my favorite props on the board for Monday Night Football this evening:
Best NFL Prop Bets for Steelers vs. Colts
- Pat Freiermuth Anytime TD Scorer (+300)
- Najee Harris OVER 2.5 Receptions (-165)
- Alec Pierce Anytime TD Scorer (+360)
Pat Freiermuth Anytime TD Scorer
Freiermuth continues to see an exceptional amount of volume from rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, including a season-high 12 targets last week in their 37-30 loss to the Bengals.
Despite not finding the end zone for the seventh consecutive week, Freiermuth finished the day with eight receptions and 79 yards, playing 52 of 73 snaps.
When he's on the field, he sees consistent targets and makes plenty of catches. He's also seen targets in the red zone in three straight weeks, and five of the last six. At some point, the explosion is coming, and this is a reasonable number to fire a dart.
Najee Harris OVER 2.5 Receptions
Just a few weeks ago, there were rumors that Harris' job was in jeopardy to Jaylen Warren, but the big Alabama running back has halted that discussion with two terrific outings vs. the New Orleans Saints and Bengals over the last two weeks.
While Harris has rushed 20 times in both games, he's also seen an uptick in the receiving game over the last several games as well, catching four of six targets last week for 26 yards.
Harris now has 13 receptions in his last three games, and should remain a focal point of the Steelers' offense against Indianapolis that's been fairly stout against the run, ranking No. 2 in yards per rush this season.
Alec Pierce Anytime Touchdown Scorer
I'm not sure why the main books have yet to release Alec Pierce odds for Monday Night Football, but I'll be anxiously awaiting their arrival.
For now, I'm happy taking a flyer on an anytime touchdown from the Colts' big play downfield threat against a Steelers defense that got torched over the top last week vs. Cincinnati.
One missed assignment, and if Ryan heaves one up in the dome, Pierce could be coming down with six points on the board, and nearly 4/1 odds back in your wallet.
