NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions for Bradley Beal, James Wiseman and Mavericks-Pelicans on Tuesday)
By Peter Dewey
Just four games are being played in the NBA on Tuesday, and I'm fully staying away from the Los Angeles Clippers-Oklahoma City Thunder matchup for injury reasons.
We've had back-to-back days of going 1-2, but I have a feeling we're going to break through in today's picks, especially with the Dallas Mavericks' line moving our favor with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram out.
One of my favorite player props is on the board right now for Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman, and we're also looking to back Bradley Beal tonight.
Let's jump into Tuesday's picks:
NBA Best Bets Record to Date
- NBA Best Bets Record for 2022-23 Season: 18-8 (+6.3467 units)
NBA Best Bets Today
- Dallas Mavericks -4 vs. New Orleans Pelicans (-110)
- Bradley Beal OVER 22.5 Points (-125)
- James Wiseman OVER 14.5 Points and Rebounds (-115)
Dallas Mavericks -4 vs. New Orleans Pelicans (-110)
I have to back Dallas in this spot with the Pelicans dealing with some major injury issues heading into this game.
Brandon Ingram (concussion protocol) is out for his matchup, and Zion Williamson (hip) and Herb Jones have both been downgraded from questionable to out. That has moved the line from -4 to -5.5 or -6 depending on the book.
I wrote earlier this morning why I was betting Dallas because of the potential of both players being ruled out.
Dallas still looks great to start this season, ranking second in defensive rating and third in offensive rating through its first two games. I lean with the Mavs for now with New Orleans’ current injury report.
Bradley Beal OVER 22.5 Points (-125)
Bradley Beal has been terrific to start the 2022-23 season, averaging 23.0 points per game while shooting 61.7 percent (!!) from the field.
I am a little worried about Beal’s shots in this prop, as he’s taken 16, 14 and 17 through his three games, but 22.5 points is too low against a Detroit Pistons team that ranks 27th in the NBA in defensive rating this season.
The Pistons have allowed 109 points to Orlando, 130 points to New York and 124 points to the Indiana Pacers in their three games this season. Yikes.
Beal is going to play plenty of minutes and at least see in the mid-teens for shots, so he should be able to beat up on this Pistons squad at home.
James Wiseman OVER 14.5 Points and Rebounds (-115)
Come and get some VALUE on James Wiseman in the Golden State Warriors’ matchup with the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.
This season, Wiseman is averaging 11.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, clearing his line of 14.5 points and rebounds tonight in all three of his games. Wiseman played his best game of the season in the Warriors’ win over Sacramento, playing 20 minutes and scoring 14 points with six boards.
The former No. 2 overall pick is going to see his minutes increase if he keeps playing this well, and he could push this number (like he did last game) on points alone.
This is one of my favorite props of the season to date.
