While many NBA fans were looking forward to a LeBron James-Kevin Durant matchup on Sunday night, James is expected to miss the game with an abductor strain.

Still, I have a play in the Brooklyn Nets-Los Angeles Lakers matchup as well as a prop bet for the red-hot Steph Curry against the Sacramento Kings

Let’s dive into Sunday’s picks:

NBA Best Bets Record to Date

NBA Best Bets Today

  • Brooklyn Nets 1Q Moneyline vs. Los Angeles Lakers (-145)
  • Steph Curry OVER 30.5 Points (-110)

Brooklyn Nets 1Q Moneyline vs. Los Angeles Lakers (-145)

The Lakers are impossible to bet on right now, playing some of the worst basketball in the NBA.

However, the Nets could be without Seth Curry (questionable) in the second night of the back-to-back.

Rather than trust Brooklyn for the whole game, I’m going to look to the first quarter where there is a major discrepancy between these two teams.

After starting the season as one of the worst first quarter teams in the NBa, the Nets are now eighth in the NBA in net rating in the first frame. Durant has been a big reason why, getting his teammates involved early, such as in his triple-double performance against the New York Knicks.

The Lakers? Well, they rank dead last in the NBA in net rating at -20.2.

This team lacks any outside shooting, and without James, I don’t see the Lakers getting out to a hot start in this matchup.

Steph Curry OVER 30.5 Points (-110)

Curry has dominated the Kings this season, clearing this line in both of his matchups against them, scoring 33 and 47 points.

Steph is averaging 33.3 points per game this season, shooting an insane 52.6 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from beyond the arc.

The only games Curry has fallen short of this number were against two strong defenses in the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns. The Kings rank 26th in the league in defensive rating.

Let’s ride Steph’s hot streak tonight.
