Another 2-1 night in the NHL takes us to 7-2 since Sunday!

The UNDER in the Stars and Bruins game hit with ease, and the Devils handled business against the Red Wings. Unfortunately, my "fade the Coyotes" strategy didn't work out. They somehow scored six goals on only 18 shots against the Blue Jackets.

We have another day ahead of us with another slate of NHL games to bet on. Let's keep the momentum going.

NHL Best Bets Today for Wednesday, October 26th

  • Rangers/Islanders OVER 6 (-110)
  • Oilers -110 vs. Blues
  • Lightning -140 vs. Ducks

Rangers/Islanders OVER 6 (-110)

In past years, you'd expect the New York Islanders to be playing in defensive battles most nights, but that hasn't been the case this season. In fact, they're in the top half of the NHL in 5-on-5 expected goals per 60 minuets and 30th in expected goals against per 60 minutes at 3.14.

Their offense is also boosted by the fact they're fourth in 5-on-5 shooting percentage.

I know what you're thinking "but Iain, you're going to bet an OVER with Igor Shesterkin in net?". Of course not, Shesterkin played for the Rangers last night so it'll be Jaroslav Halak who will be playing for them tonight.

I think we're going to see a bit of an offensive shootout in this one.

Oilers -110 vs. Blues

The St. Louis Blues sit at 3-1 to start the season, but the numbers are telling me we're going to see some regression in terms of their record.

Heading into tonight, the Blues rank 29th in 5-on-5 CORSI%, 23rd in expected goals per 60 minutes, and 24th in expected goals against per 60 minutes. Those aren't exactly the type of numbers that instill a ton of confidence in me.

Instead, I'll back the Oilers at pick'em odds on the road. They're 3-3 on the season, but their offense seems to be just as high-octane as it has been over the past few seasons.

Lightning -140 vs. Ducks

The Lightning have stumbled out of the gates at 3-4, but they're too talented and skilled to not back them against a Ducks team that's one of the worst in the NHL. Anaheim ranks dead last in the NHL in 5-on-5 expected goals against per 60 minutes at 3.44.

You can't play poor defense against a team like the Lightning, or you're going to suffer greatly.
