NHL Best Bets Today (Keep Fading Coyotes at All Cost)
We're coming off back-to-back winning days in the NHL! We're 5-1 since Sunday, after going 2-1 with last night's picks.
Let's keep the momentum going, as I go for a third-straight winning slate. You can track these picks all throughout the season HERE.
Here are my best NHL bets for Tuesday, October 25th.
NHL Best Bets Today for Tuesday, October 25th
- Stars/Bruins UNDER 6.5 (-128)
- Devils -115 vs. Red Wings
- Blue Jackets -1.5 (+118) vs. Coyotes
Stars/Bruins UNDER 6.5 (-128)
The Boston Bruins have been an unexpected offensive juggernaut this season, but I think now is the time to fade that trend and take the UNDER in their game tonight. Jake Oettinger returns to the net for the Stars, and has been arguably the best goaltender in the NHL so far this season with a stunning save percentage of .959.
Linus Ullmark is expected to start for the Bruins, and he's also been fantastic between the pipes this season, sporting a save percentage of .929.
As good as Boston has been offensively, let's remember that the Bruins are also third in the NHL in expected goals against per 60 minutes at 2.52.
I think the total will stay under 6.5 goals tonight.
Devils -115 vs. Red Wings
It's admittedly a small sample size, but the New Jersey Devils have been one of the best teams in the NHL this season from an analytics standpoint. Heading into tonight's game, they rank first in the following statistics; FENWICK, expected goals for, expected goals against, high-danger scoring chances, high-danger scoring chances allowed.
Their shooting and goaltending has cost them at time, but I don't mind backing them as slight favorites against a Detroit Red Wings team that ranks in the bottom half of the NHL in virtually all of the aforementioned stats.
Blue Jackets -1.5 (+118) vs. Coyotes
I might just start blindly betting the puck line on whatever team plays against the Arizona Coyotes. They are one of the worst teams in recent NHL history.
They rank last (by a wide margin) in the following areas; CORSI, FENWICK, expected goals per 60 minutes, expected goals against per 60 minutes, high-danger scoring chances, high-danger scoring chances allowed. It's a disaster in Arizona.
Their expected goals for this season is 2.05, while their expected goals against this season is 3.99. That means that from an analytics perspective, they should be losing games by an average of 1.94 goals per game. It's mind-blowing how truly horrible that is.
Fade the Coyotes at all cost.
