Not every night can be a winning one. We went 1-2 on Tuesday for a loss, but we're back today to try to set things right.

We only have three games to wager on tonight, which means I'll have a pick for every single game. These types of nights can be tough, but I like a good challenge. You can find the best availableodds for all three games here.

Let's dive into my best bets for tonight's NHL action.

NHL Best Bets Record-to-Date

  • 49-43-1 (+5.76 units)

NHL Best Bets for Today (Wednesday, November 16)

  • Sabres +145 vs. Senators
  • Blues/Blackhawks UNDER 6 (-105)
  • Kings +125 vs. Oilers

Sabres +145 vs. Senators

The numbers between these two teams are too close to justify their current odds. The Sabres rank sixth in 5-on-5 CORSI%, while the Senators rank ninth. A big reason why Ottawa is a sizable favorite, has been their offense. They rank eighth in the league in expected goals for, but what they gain on offense, they lose on defense, ranking 25th in expected goals against per 60 minutes.

If wouldn't argue against Ottawa being the favorite here, but I can't get to them being as big of favorites as their odds currently have them set as. For that reason, I think the value lies with the underdog Sabres.

Blues/Blackhawks UNDER 6 (-105)

Neither of these teams can shoot the puck, which is a huge reason why I'm on the UNDER in this Western Conference battle. They rank 21st and 31st in shooting percentage this season, and are scoring a combined 4.91 goals per game. No teams are scoring fewer goals per game than the Blues and Blackhawks.

Chicago will also be starting Arvid Söderblom, who has a strong .931 save percentage on the year. He should contribute to use cashing the UNDER for us.

Kings +125 vs. Oilers

The Kings are being extremely undervalued in this spot, and the Oilers are being overvalued. Edmonton has not got off to as strong of a start as people expected this season, despite their decent 9-7 record. Heading into tonight, Edmonton ranks 23rd in CORSI%, well below the Kings who are coming in at sixth.

The Kings defense has been much better this year too, and it remains a sore spot for the Oilers. The Kings rank eighth in expected goals against, well positioned to slow down the Oilers high-octane offense. Meanwhile, Edmonton ranks 26th in expected goals against this season.

I'll back another road underdog in the Kings.
