Now Might Be the Last time to Bet on Pats to Win AFC East
By Peter Dewey
Bill Belichick is back like he never left.
Belichick’s New England Patriots have won six straight games, rookie quarterback Mac Jones is looking like the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, and the team is in first place in the AFC East.
Who needs that Tom Brady guy?
All kidding aside, the Patriots have a real chance to win the division, despite Vegas’ penchant for the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots have two games remaining against Buffalo, one coming in Week 13, where they could control their own destiny in the division.
WynnBET has the Patriots as three-point underdogs in Buffalo in Week 13, but if you think they can pull off the upset (Pats moneyline is +130 at WynnBET), then you may want to take them to win the division as well.
Latest Odds to Win AFC East Division
- Buffalo Bills: -145
- New England Patriots: +100
- Miami Dolphins: +20000
- New York Jets: +100000
New England has not only won six straight games, but it has not knocked off the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Chargers, all who are firmly in the playoff picture in the AFC.
As good as Jones has been, the Patriots have relied on their defense, which is second in the NFL in points allowed and third in yards per play allowed, to get to 8-4 on the season. Ironically, Buffalo has allowed the least number of points in the NFL so far this season.
Can the Pats pull off the upset? We’ve seen Belichick do it before. If he and the Pats can beat Buffalo on the road, there’s almost no doubt that they would take over as the favorite in the division.
If you’re going to back the Patriots in Week 13, you might as well back them in the AFC East at favorable +100 odds while you still have the chance.
