Odds to Catch Zach Wilson’s First Touchdown With Jets See Major Shakeup
By Peter Dewey
New York Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson impressed during the preseason, and established a solid connection with their major free-agent signing at receiver, Corey Davis.
"He's a great player,” Wilson said of Davis. “I just have a lot of trust in him and all his 1-on-1 routes that he's gonna get open."
Davis was targeted on an eye-opening 77% of the routes he ran in the preseason, and has moved up the odds list at WynnBET to catch Wilson’s first career touchdown pass. Davis opened at +650, but oddsmakers have now moved him all the way to +450.
Odds to Be Receiver of Zach Wilson’s First Touchdown Pass
- Jamison Crowder: +400
- Elijah Moore: +400
- Corey Davis: +450
- Field: +500
- Chris Herndon: +600
- Denzel Mims: +600
- Tevin Coleman: +1500
- Michael Carter: +1800
Davis isn’t the favorite, as that still belongs to Jamison Crowder and Elijah Moore. But Crowder and Moore have seen their odds drop from +350 to +400, making much less of a gap for Davis to make up.
Personally, I think Davis presents some really solid value even at +450, especially considering that Herndon (+500 to +600) has dropped below him on the list now after the preseason action.
Wilson was lights out this preseason, and could be a great pick to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award at +600 odds on WynnBET.
The Jets brought in Davis, a former first-round pick, to help improve the weapons around Wilson, and so far the two have established a solid connection in the passing game. The preseason is always hard to judge, but if Wilson has confidence in the veteran, it’s very possible that he focuses on him early and often in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers.
