Let's Set Odds: Where Will Jordan Love Play in 2022 With Aaron Rodgers Staying in Green Bay?

The Jordan Love era is about to end in Green Bay before it even had a chance to begin.

After being drafted late in the first round as the eventual replacement for Aaron Rodgers, it appears the tables have turned, as multiple reports have now indicated that the Packers and Rodgers have agreed on a 4-year, $200 million deal, making him the highest paid player in league history.

With Rodgers locked in, any remaining trade leverage that Green Bay now had over Jordan Love is likely sunk on their own end. However, due to the weak NFL Draft class at quarterback, as well as many veteran quarterbacks likely staying put this offseason, Love could remain a coveted option as a former 26th overall pick by a team looking to reset at the position, while not having to pay top dollar. Love has two years left on his rookie contract before the team even has to consider picking up his fifth year option, which could be a massive bargain if he plays to his potential.

With Love almost guaranteed to be on the move, let's set odds for where his next team may be.

Odds for Jordan Love's Next Team

  • Denver Broncos +150 -- OFF THE BOARD WITH RUSSELL WILSON GOING TO DENVER
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +225
  • Washington Commanders +275
  • Carolina Panthers +350
  • New York Giants +450
  • Field +300

Denver Broncos +150 -- * OFF THE BOARD*

With the Broncos bringing in former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as head coach, the move to acquire Love makes too much sense if he's a fan of his skillset. Hackett was on the coaching staff in 2020 when Green Bay took him in the first round, and while that's not necessarily indicative of whether he was on-board with the decision, Hackett would be best-positioned to maximize Love's talent after working with him the last two seasons.

Should Hackett pass up Love in favor of Teddy Bridgewater early on in the offseason, it would be a pretty damning statement to the rest of the league, and could result in Love's trade value continuing to plummet.

Pittsburgh Steelers +200

If the Steelers had reported interest in Liberty quarterback Malik Willis, then Love's skillset should also be of interest, as both quarterbacks have strong arms with good mobility to escape the pocket.

The Steelers still have a top 10 defense, which puts a higher emphasis on getting the quarterback position right to remain competitive. While Love has only started one NFL game, he does have two seasons of experience and tutelage under the guy that won back-to-back MVP's since he was drafted.

Washington Commanders +250

We know that Washington is desperate for a quarterback, as Ron Rivera is likely to try and upgrade the position from Taylor Heinicke and Garrett Gilbert left on the roster.

Love would be able to run Washington's offense fairly seamlessly as Scott Turner applies many of the same west coast offensive principles he ran in Green Bay under Matt LaFleur and Hackett.

Carolina Panthers +300

Similar to Washington, Carolina needs a major upgrade from either Sam Darnold or P.J. Walker if Matt Rhule is likely to keep his job.

The Panthers moved on from offensive coordinator Joe Brady and onto Jeff Nixon, who didn't show much improvement during his tenure. Carolina finished the season ranked 29th in offense, and 31st in touchdown passes. Taking a chance on Love could end up being great, but I think they're facing a more urgent need than what Love can bring them.

New York Giants +400

The talk has been either trying to fix Daniel Jones, or bringing in Mitchell Trubisky to either replace him or bring a level of competition to the quarterback room.

Head coach Brian Daboll would fancy Love's skillset, but may elect to go with Trubisky instead having coached him in Buffalo last season.

Either way, the Giants likely have the most stable option at quarterback amongst teams on this list, and that's not staying a heck of a lot to begin with.
