Oddsmakers Expect Big Day From Chuba Hubbard

Chuba Hubbard has done a respectable job filling in for Christian McCaffrey.  He’s already had a 100-yard game on the ground and is averaging over four yards per carry since becoming the starter. 

Hubbard and the Panthers are on a three-game losing streak after starting 3-0. They are taking on the New York Giants this week and the oddsmakers expect Hubbard to play a big role. 

WynnBET has Hubbard’s prop for rushing yards set at 77.5, with -115 odds on both sides. The line is a little aggressive, but not without merit. The Giants have the 4th-worst rushing defense in the league, allowing 137.2 yards on the ground per game. 

Hubbard has only gone over 77.5 yards once, and that was two weeks ago against the Philadelphia Eagles. The biggest difference between that game and the others is the amount of carries. Carolina gave Hubbard 24 carries against the Eagles, which helped him clear the century mark. 

If Hubbard gets close to 20 carries on the day, then 77.5 is very possible. If his carries are closer to 15, he’ll hit the under. 

I expect the Panthers to be up late in the game, which will give Hubbard a few extra carries to close out the game. It’s going to be close, but I’ll take the over on this one.
