Ohio State vs. Michigan State Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 6
By Reed Wallach
Ohio State hits the road this weekend to continue their pursuit of a Big Ten championship, this time against sliding foe Michigan State.
After going 11-2 last season, Michigan State has fallen off a cliff, now 2-3 on the season and looking helpless on both sides of the ball. Against the best offense in the country in Ohio State with Heisman Trophy front runner C.J. Stroud, will the Buckeyes cover the massive spread?
We'll answer that below, but let's first check out the odds for this matchup:
Ohio State vs. Michigan State Odds, Spread and Total
Ohio State vs. Michigan State Betting Trends
- Michigan State is 0-3 against the spread (ATS) as underdogs this season
- Ohio State is 8-3-1 ATS as a road favorite under Ryan Day
- Michigan State has gone under in four of five games this season
Ohio State vs. Michigan State Prediction and Pick
This is the Buckeyes first road game of the season, but I don't expect Michigan State to hold down this offense one bit. The team is down several key defensive players such as Xavier Henderson, Darius Snow and Jacob Slade and has struggled to contain the likes of Washington, Minnesota and Maryland over the last three weeks. Each team scored 27or more points on this defense and the Buckeyes are the best of the four.
The Spartans defense is 93rd in yards per pass attempt allowed and 73rd in overall success rate and 115 in EPA/Pass. I expect the Buckeyes to name their number against this defense as they continue to build up Stroud's Heisman Trophy candidacy.
Ohio State's defense has started to come together under Jim Knowles, ranking 17th in tackles for loss. There is no bottom for this Spartans' team and I'm not looking to sell Ohio State just yet. I'd look to the OSU team total over at 44.5 or below, but this is setting up for another blowout loss for Sparty.
