If you bet Carolina -8, you can go ahead and breathe now. Sam Darnold has made this a good night for you. Although Darnold didn't throw for a touchdown, he still was able to dissect the Texans defense -- throwing for over 300 yards.

Darnold rushed for his second touchdown of the game late in the fourth quarter, putting the Panthers up 24-9. With the win, Carolina goes to 3-0 SU and 3-0 ATS

Most of the public’s money was on the Panthers in some form or fashion, which makes this a great night for the casual bettor.

Nearly 90% of the money for moneyline and ATS bets at WynnBET were in the Panthers’ favor. Once McCaffrey went out, it looked like Houston had a chance, but Darnold didn’t let that happen on his watch.

Carolina may have gotten the win, but it came with a price. The Panthers lost Christian McCaffrey to a hamstring injury early in the game. They had to lean on Chuba Hubbard and Royce Freeman for the remainder of the game, which seemed to work out just fine.

Along with McCaffrey’s injury, the Panthers also lost rookie cornerback Jaycee Horn. He went down without contact and didn’t return following his injury. If Carolina is without McCaffrey and Horn going forward, both sides of the ball will have big holes -- which isn’t a great sign to their 3-0 record.

As for the Texans, Davis Mills played well in spurts, but was never able to lead the Texans to consistent offense.

The Panthers will travel to Dallas in Week 4 and try to remain undefeated.
