Patriots Still Smart Bet to Win AFC East

The New England Patriots ran through the Buffalo Bills last night and are now 1.5 games up on the Bills in the AFC East. After their victory, WynnBET moved the Patriots odds to win the division down to -220 -- which is some heavy juice. However, New England is still a smart bet and right now could be the best time to get them before the final stretch of the season.

New England has the seventh-easiest schedule in the final five weeks of the season. The Patriots are on a bye week now, but still have games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins. The other two games are against the Buffalo Bills -- which will be in New England -- and against the Indianapolis Colts.

With New England moving up in their divisional and Super Bowl odds (up to +750 from +1400 last week), WynnBET Senior Trading Manager Alan Berg says the Pats will still face a challenge in the postseason.

“I have learned to never be surprised by anything that Bill Belichick does. Realistically, there was a process to all of this. He rebuilt the defense and was fortunate to land a quarterback that was willing to do exactly what is asked of him. I still think it's a tough road for them to win a title this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.”

New England was at one point as high as +10000, or 100/1 at WynnBET to win the Super Bowl, showing just how impactful this win streak has been.

Even if the Patriots lose the games against the playoff contenders and beat the Jaguars and Dolphins, they’ll be at 2-2 and end up at 11-5 and can still win the division. While the Bills still get to play the Jets, they also have a matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week. It would take a lot of things to go wrong for the Patriots and a lot of things to go right for the Bills for their spots to be reversed in the standings.

The key to this entire division will be the Week 16 matchup between the Bills and Patriots. Buffalo will get its rematch in New England, which could work out in the Bills’ favor. The Patriots are 6-0 on the road, but only 3-4 at home. Meanwhile, the Bills are 4-2 on the road and 3-3 at home. With home field advantage not being a serious factor for these two teams, Buffalo would have a chance to come back.

The Patriots have a firm grasp of this division and now that they have a bye week to get healthy, they are the most dangerous team in the NFL and can be trusted to win another AFC East title.
