Picks to Win the First LIV Golf Invitational Event (Taylor Gooch Among Top Selections)
It's been an insane week in the world of golf.
The controversial LIV Golf Invitational will kick-off its first event this week, and it announced who will be competing. The most notable names on the list that will be leaving the PGA Tour to compete this week includes; Dustin Johnson, Louis Oosthuizen, Phil Mickelson, Talor Gooch, Kevin Na and Sergio Garcia.
It was also announced that Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau will be competing in future events.
The first event will take place at the Centurion Golf Club in London. Check out my odds article here to see the full list of odds to win.
Here are my top three picks to win this week's LIV Golf event.
LIV Golf Invitational London Picks
Talor Gooch +1000
Dustin Johnson is the betting favorite at +500, but the golfer who has actually played the best so far in 2022 is Talor Gooch. He won the RSM Classic, and ranked 19th in strokes gained: approach and fourth in strokes gained: around-the-green before leaving the PGA Tour. He has some solid betting value at +1000.
Sam Horsfield +2000
Sam Horsfield is one of the better up-and-coming English golfers, and while you may not familiar with his name, he already has three wins in Europe, including this year's Soudal Open. He'll have a home course advantage at Centurion Golf Club, so he'll already have a leg up on the majority of the competition.
Branden Grace +3300
Branden Grace has already had some solid results on the PGA Tour this season, with a T4 finish at the Zurich Classic and a T7 at the Zozo Championship. With two wins on the PGA Tour in his career, and nine wins in Europe, he deserves more respect than what oddsmakers are giving him.
