A new era is beginning in Pittsburgh as longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has retired, leaving Mason Rudolph, Mitch Trubiksy and Kenny Pickett in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback room.

While it seems like Trubisky will get the first crack at the job, the Steelers likely won’t be married to any quarterback since they took Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Despite Roethlisberger’s subpar play in 2021, the Steelers still found a way to sneak into the playoffs, and there’s no doubt that they will be one of the most competitive teams in the league because of head coach Mike Tomlin.

Will that lead to a lot of wins? That remains to be seen. Let’s jump into the offseason moves from the Steelers and how they are shaping up in the futures market at DraftKings Sportsbook:

Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Schedule

The Steelers won’t have an easy path this season, as the AFC North is expected to be one of the tougher divisions in football.

However, Deshaun Watson’s impending suspension could make things a bit easier on Pittsburgh, who played the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 and Week 18.

The Steelers’ have Sunday Night Football matchups against the Miami Dolphins (Week 7) and Cincinnati Bengals (Week 11) as well as a Christmas Eve matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Win Total Prediction

  • OVER 7 (-125)
  • UNDER 7 (+105)

I know that Roethlisberger is a franchise icon, but are we sure the Steelers downgraded by replacing him with any of their quarterbacks this offseason? I think the gap is a lot closer than oddsmakers are making it out to be.

Under Tomlin, the Steelers have NEVER had a losing season, with their worst seasons coming in 2019, 2013 and 2012 when they went 8-8. They only need to go 8-9 to clear this line in 2022.

I am all in on the OVER for the Steelers this season. They still have a great defense, and fixed their problem at middle linebacker with the addition of Jack. T.J. Watt is still one of the game’s best players, and the Steelers have Minkah Fitzpatrick locked up long term.

Unless all three quarterbacks fall flat in the 2022 season, the Steelers should at least push to be 8-9 or 9-8, even in a tough AFC.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Odds to Win Division, AFC, Super Bowl

  • To Make the Playoffs: +350
  • Odds to Win AFC North: +1000
  • Odds to Win AFC: +5000
  • Odds to Win Super Bowl 57: +9000

The Steelers are facing an uphill battle in the division, even though I think they are able to clear their win total in 2022.

However, I don’t mind them as a potential playoff pick at +350, since they were able to sneak in last season. The path would consist of the rest of the AFC North and AFC West beating up on each other, but maybe some teams underperform and Tomlin’s squad grabs a spot.

No matter the talent on the roster, Tomlin has been able to get the most out of his team every season. I think that could be enough for them to sneak into the postseason, even though it looks like a long shot.
