The Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers open their preseason action in Week 1 on Saturday at 10 p.m. EST.

Both of these teams are expected to compete for a Super Bowl this season, but this game will likely look much different, as Sean McVay is notorious for sitting his players in the preseason.

Brandon Staley, a McVay disciple, may have a similar strategy, especially since the Chargers know they have their franchise quarterback in Justin Herbert.

Let’s jump into the odds for this preseason game from WynnBET

Rams vs. Chargers Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Rams: +3.5 (-110)
  • Chargers: -3.5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Rams: +145
  • Chargers: -175

Total:

  • 30 (Over +100/Under -120)

Rams vs. Chargers Prediction and Pick

The Rams are rightful dogs in this game, as we’re going to see John Wolford and Bryce Perkins leading the offense.

The Chargers will have veteran Chase Daniel likely seeing some time, but the total in this game (30) seems to reflect a lot of backups getting a lot of time on Saturday.

I don’t mind taking the Rams as an underdog because we’re getting the hook, especially since the total is so low in this game. Dating back to 1995, underdogs in the NFL postseason have hit at a rate of 53.7% against the spread.

When both teams are really just trying to see what they have in their backups, I’ll gladly take more than a field goal on the defending champs in the preseason opener.

Lean: Rams +3.5 (-110)
