The New York Rangers have been one of the hottest teams over the past month, but they're success will be put to the test when they take on the Stanley Cup favorite, the Colorado Avalanche, on Tuesday night.

New York has gone 8-2 in its last 10 games and sit tied with the Hurricanes for second place in the Metropolitan Division, just one point back from the leading Capitals.

The Avalanche got off to a slow start to their season, but they've won four straight games and are beginning to inch up the Central Division standings. They're still five points back from the Wild in first place, but the Avs have three games in hand and can make up ground with a win tonight.

Here are the odds for tonight's matchup via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Rangers vs. Avalanche Prediction and Pick

The bulk of the Rangers success this season is largely due to the success of their young goaltender, Igor Shesterkin. With him out of the lineup due to injury, the Rangers are vulnerable. Alexander Georgiev is expect to get another start tonight, and to be fair, he has been solid between the pipes for the Rangers as of late.

Despite the string of good starts, Georgiev's save percentage is still only at .902 for the season. As a whole, a lot of the Rangers statistics are troubling. They're 28th in the NHL in CORSI% and they're 14th in both high danger scoring chances for and against.

Meanwhile, the Avs rank fifth in the NHL in CORSI% and they rank higher than the Rangers in most other categories. Colorado is also first in the league in scoring percentage, finding the back of the night on 12.66% of their shots.

The Avalanche downed the Rangers 7-3 on December 8th, and I expect tonight to be a similar result.

Pick: Avalanche -1.5 (+115)
