After seeing their 11-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to Toronto, and ruining my perfect Parlay Plate in the process, the 18-7 New York Yankees host the 10-14 Texas Rangers starting today at 1:05 PM EST.

Gerrit Cole pitches the first game for New York, and has begun to settle down after a rough start to the season.

Texas, who has won four straight in an impressive winning streak of their own, has yet to name a starting pitcher as of this writing

Let's break down the matchup using the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:

**UPDATE**

Today's Yankees game has been rained out and will be made up on Monday, May 9 in the afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Rangers vs Yankees Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Rangers +1.5 (+100)
  • Yankees -1.5 (-120)

Moneyline:

  • Rangers +210
  • Yankees -235

Total:

  • 7.5 (Over -110 /Under -110)

Rangers vs Yankees Game 1 Prediction and Pick

Gerrit Cole had a rocky start to the season but whew, he looks back now. He didn't allow a run in either of this last two starts, striking out 15 batters over 12.2 innings in the process.

The Rangers have the third-worst OPS in MLB over the last 15 games and have scored three runs or fewer in eight of their previous 11.

New York has a large bullpen advantage as well. They're tied with Detroit for the lowest bullpen ERA in the league, so they'll have relievers ready if Cole struggles. Texas' bullpen has been decent but ranks 19th in ERA. Advantage, Yankees.

Whoever Texas ends up starting. I don't see him going into Yankee Stadium against Cole and pulling out a victory. Give me New York on the run line.

Pick: Yankees -1.5
