We're nearly to the MLB All-Star break and it's about that time to survey the league to determine which teams are poised to make a second-half charge. Now may be the last time to get truly great value on a futures bet, so who should bettors target?

When you look at the World Series odds at WynnBET Sportsbook, you'll see the top MLB teams all already have short numbers. The Dodgers (+425), Yankees (+450), Astros (+650), Mets (+750), and Blue Jays (+900) all have odds in the triple digits, but there's one team that oddsmakers still haven't accurately represented in the market.

Sitting at +2500 to win the World Series, the Boston Red Sox are still an incredible futures value and we need to take advantage before it's too late.

Are the Red Sox Contenders?

It's been exactly three weeks since I wrote the Red Sox were poised to make a playoff push, and they've exceeded even my highest expectations.

They're 19-5 in June and grabbed hold of a Wild Card spot if the season ended today. But when you look at their profile as a team, it's obvious they're a true contender.

Boston has the third-best run differential in the American League, just two behind the Astros. They average the sixth-most runs per game in MLB while having the sixth-lowest team ERA. The Red Sox offense is on fire too, leading the league in OPS since mid-April.

Nick Pivetta and Michael Wacha have become stalwarts in the rotation, while Rich Hill is pitching well. They should get Chris Sale, Nathan Eovaldi, and James Paxton back from injury over the coming weeks too, bolstering their pitching staff.

Defensively, Boston has the seventh-most Outs Above Average, per MLB Statcast, and their only real wart has been a bullpen that's improved in recent weeks. As their pitching staff gets healthy, I expect that improvement to continue.

Perhaps the most encouraging sign in Boston's favor is their performance on the road. They're 12-3 in their last 15 away from home and in a playoff series, being able to silence a home crowd is critical.

The Red Sox have a difficult schedule moving forward, but they're among the hottest teams in MLB and it's time their odds reflect that. Their World Series odds have already fallen from +6000 to +2500 in the last three weeks, but there's still value before oddsmakers realize what we already know: Boston is a true contender and a must-buy heading into July.
