The Detroit Tigers host the Kansas City Royals in the final matchup of a three-game series this morning at 12:05 PM EST.

Both squads are struggling and hope to avoid the AL Central basement. Detroit sends Tarik Skubal to the mound after he compiled a 5.85 ERA in June. His command has abandoned him of late but his underlying metrics are still strong.

Brady Singer takes the hill for Kansas City with a 3-3 record and 4.33 ERA. He threw a career-high 8.1 innings against Oakland in a loss last week but allowed three runs or fewer in six of his seven starts prior to that.

Can Skubal turn things around or will Singer propel the Royals to a road victory?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to find the value in this Royals vs Tigers matchup:

Royals vs Tigers Prediction and Pick

I've been on the Tarik Skubal bandwagon all season, but something seems wrong with the 25-year-old.

After issuing just 10 walks in his first 11 starts, Skubal walked 11 batters in his last four. Detroit lost all four, and I'm concerned there's a lingering injury or something deeper going on. In any case, my guy is difficult to trust right now.

Especially against a Royals lineup that has the 10th-highest OPS against left-handed pitchers over the last two weeks. The youth movement is on in Kansas City as Vinny Pasquantino recently joined Bobby Witt Jr., MJ Melendez, and Kyle Isbel as rookies in the Royals' lineup. They're fast, powerful, and patient, so Skubal could be in trouble again if his command doesn't return.

Meanwhile, Brady Singer looks like a strong rotation piece despite underwhelming box score numbers. His 3.85 expected ERA suggests positive regression is coming. Today is a great day to start, as the Tigers are dead-last in OPS against right-handed pitchers and Singer is 4-0 with a 2.87 ERA against them in his career.

Detroit has lost three straight as home favorites while Kansas City has won five of six as road underdogs. Until we know what's wrong with Skubal, we can't trust him to carry a pathetic Tigers lineup anymore.

Pick: Royals ML (+100)
