It’s Ryder Cup week!

Finally, after it was delayed last year due to COVID-19, the Ryder Cup returns to the golf world for the first time since 2018.

Team USA will boast one of its most talented rosters that we’ve seen in the history of the tournament, but Team Europe will come into the event having won seven of the last nine.

Odds to Win the Ryder Cup

  • USA -200
  • Europe +200
  • Draw +1200

WynnBET Sportsbook has Team USA set as a sizable -200 (bet $200 to profit $100) favorite to win, which gives them an implied probability of victory of 66.67%.

Meanwhile, despite dominating the tournament in recent history, Europe is coming in as a +200 (bet $100 to profit $200) underdog.

If you want to get crazy, you can also bet on it ending in a draw at +1200 (bet $100 to profit $1,200). The last time that a draw occurred was 1989 and it has only happened twice in the history of the event.

Ryder Cup Betting Preview

The 2021 edition of the Ryder Cup is set to take place at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. Both of Team USA’s wins have come on home soil, and they’ve won two of the last three hosted in the United States.

The biggest question mark of this event will be the chemistry of Team USA. With multiple feuds on the team, including the biggest coming between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

Koepka has also gone on record stating in a roundabout way that he doesn’t love the Ryder Cup.

"It's different. It's hectic. It's a bit odd, if I'm honest," Koepka said of his Ryder Cup experiences. "I don't want to say it's a bad week. We're just so individualized, and everybody has their routine and a different way of doing things, and now it's like, 'OK, we have to have a meeting at this time or go do this or go do that.' It's the opposite of what happens during a major week."

"It's tough," he added. "There are times where I'm like, 'I won my match. I did my job. What do you want from me?' I know how to take responsibility for the shots I hit every week. Now, somebody else hit a bad shot and left me in a bad spot, and I know this hole is a loss. That's new, and you have to change the way you think about things. You go from an individual sport all the time to a team sport one week a year. It's so far from my normal routine."

If you’re looking to handicap the event, Whistling Straits is all about distance. Measuring at almost 7,400 as a Par 71, you may want to lean towards the bombers if you’re betting on individual matchup.

Ryder Cup Prediction

Team Europe +200

Listen, if you’re going to give me the team that has won seven of the last nine editions at +200, I’m going to jump all over it.

If you look at the individual rosters, Team USA may seem like an obvious bet. Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele and FedEx Cup winner Patrick Cantlay just to name a few. It’s truly an all-star squad.

What you have to remember, is that this isn’t a four-day long stroke play event. This is match play, this is two-man best ball, this is a completely different thing from what we’re seeing on a weekly basis. If this tournament was a four-day stroke play event, Team USA would run away with it.

Team chemistry, experience, and the will to win plays a big factor in the Ryder Cup, and Team Europe has a big advantage in it. Not to mention they have the No. 1 player in the world in Jon Rahm on their roster.

Team USA is way overpriced in this one. If you’re looking for value, Europe is the play, no questions asked.
