Remember when Jameis Winston threw for five touchdowns and the Saints destroyed Aaron Rodgers? That feels like so long ago.

New Orleans is 1-2 since that game, with their last loss coming this past Sunday. The Saints were up 21-10 and let the Giants score 17 unanswered points to win the game in overtime, dropping their record to 2-2.

WynnBET still has the Saints’ win total projection at 9.0 with the over (-115) slightly favoring the under (-105). At 9.0 wins, I have to take the under. New Orleans doesn’t have many “easy” games left on their schedule and still has to face the Buccaneers twice and the Panthers again.

The Saints’ defense is keeping them afloat right now. The defense is top 5 in points allowed (17.2) and just outside the top 10 in yards per game. New Orleans’ offense is where the trouble lies. The Saints are 17th in points per game and 28th in yards per game. They are having a tough time moving the ball down the field and it is going to come back to haunt them -- just like it did against the Giants.

New Orleans will be on the road for the next two weeks to face Washington and Seattle, respectively. If the Saints can take advantage of Washington’s underperforming defense, then maybe they can get a win, but they need Winston to start applying pressure on opposing defenses to get them over the 9-win hump.

After Washington and Seattle, New Orleans still has Dallas and Buffalo on the schedule -- two teams that can put points on the board with the best of them. New Orleans has a lot to fix, but I don’t think they will be able to fix enough to get to 10 wins.
