The New Orleans Saints are coming off back-to-back losses to the Titans and the Falcons and need to rebound this weekend against the Philadephia Eagles. When the odds opened for this game, the Eagles were 1.0 point favorites and -120 on the moneyline (ML) with a 44.0 total.

I wrote about this game earlier in the week and said that I liked the Saints to pull off a slim upset, but that Alvin Kamara’s health would need to be monitored this week.

Well, we got some good news on Wednesday when Kamara was upgraded to a limited participant at practice after missing his first game since 2020 with a knee injury. I almost expected the odds to move to a pick em’ but then Thursday came along.

Kamara did not participate in practice Thursday and the odds have moved further in favor of the Eagles.

Saints vs. Eagles Prediction and Pick

If Kamara can’t go, the Saints will be without their two best offensive players after the loss of Jameis Winston to a season-ending MCL tear. They will also be forced once again to turn to Mark Ingram to handle rushing duties. The veteran back managed just 47 yards on 14 carries though he did score a TD and catch four passes for 61 yards. Not Kamara numbers but truthfully it could be a lot worse. But, it wasn’t enough to secure a win against the Titans.

Looking ahead to this weekend, I still like the Saints and I still think Kamara plays. I’ll say my confidence in that statement took a hit when his name popped up again on the no practice list but I remain optimistic. The Eagles are not very good at stopping the run and allow 117.3 YPG to opponents and have ceded 11 rushing touchdowns.

I wrote earlier in the week under the assumption that Kamara will be ready to go. Despite his absence from practice today, I am still on that path and will live or die depending on Kamara's status heading into the weekend.
