It was very generous of the New Orleans Saints to give the New York Giants their first win of the season, but they shouldn’t be as polite in Week 5 against the Washington Football Team.

The Saints took an interesting overtime loss to the Giants, allowing quarterback Daniel Jones to throw for 402 passing yards. After allowing the Carolina Panthers’ Sam Darold to throw for 305 yards in Week 2 and New England Patriots’ Mac Jones to throw for 270 yards in Week 3, New Orleans' shutdown performance of Aaron Rodgers (133 passing yards) in Week 1 seems like a distant fluke.

Washington’s Taylor Heinicke has played well enough that I forgot that Ryan Fitzpatrick was even there in the first place. Heinicke completed 23 of 33 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns in the Football Team’s 34-30 win over the Atlanta Falcons last week. He’ll look to continue the trend of shredding the Saints secondary in Week 5.

  • Washington is 1-3 against the spread this season.

Saints vs. Washington Prediction

Both of the passing defenses in this matchup have been brutalized in the early part of the season. The Saints are allowing 294.5 passing yards per game and Washington is allowing 307. However, New Orleans has managed to do a much better job at stopping the run, allowing just 66 rushing yards per game (second-best in the NFL).

The Saints and the Football Team should still have no trouble putting up points in this game, so I will take the over. The total is currently set at 44, but I would not be surprised if it approached the 60’s.
