It's been an exciting week already preparing for the final golf major of the year with tons more in store as the 150th Open Championship is a mere two days away.

This year's British Open takes place at St. Andrews with Collin Morikawa as the defending champion. You can check out my preview, top picks, dark horse bets, and more with BetSided's coverage throughout the week.

While outright bets are always fun to win, sometimes it's easier to look at specific groups to decide who may have the edge in a stacked field.

Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, and Matt Fitzpatrick won the first three majors of the 2022 season. They all find themselves near the top of the odds leaderboard at WynnBET Sportsbook, but which major champion has the best chance to notch a second of the campaign?

Scheffler, Thomas, or Fitzpatrick?

Odds to Win British Open

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me to see any of these golfers hoist the Claret Jug come Sunday. All three have been sensational this season and their games fit the Old Course at St. Andrews well.

If we're looking purely at recent form, Scheffler and Fitzpatrick have the edge. In Scheffler's last seven majors, he's finished in the top 18 six times with five top-10's and a win at the Masters. Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, has a top-10 finish in five of his last six tournaments.

That being said, Justin Thomas' statistical profile makes him my favorite bet of the week and I think he's the best bet to win a second major of 2022.

Of this group, Thomas has the most Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee and Strokes Gained: Approach. He leads the entire Tour in Par 4 Birdie or Better Percentage, and while Scheffler's accuracy or Fitzpatrick's distance could be weaknesses, Thomas has no holes in his game right now.

Don't forget too that Thomas has been hanging out with Tiger Woods all week. Sometimes magic rubs off, and I'll bet Thomas has a few tricks up his sleeve to pull out the victory.

Between Thomas, Scheffler, and Fitzpatrick, all three could easily win. But it's Thomas that has my attention and dollars at the 150th Open Championship this week.
