Super Bowl 56 will feature two coaches that once coached together on the Los Angeles Rams before Zac Taylor was hired as the Cincinnati Bengals head coach.

Sean McVay will go toe-to-toe with Taylor in his second Super Bowl appearance, but which one of these coaches has the edge with an extra week of rest?

Sean McVay’s Against the Spread Record After a Bye

Since taking over as the Rams head coach in 2017, Sean McVay has gone 4-2 against the spread and 4-2 straight up following a bye week, including playoffs.

McVay and the Rams failed to cover in Super Bowl 53 when they put up just three points against the New England Patriots, but he has been fairly solid when given more time to prepare in his career.

Zac Taylor’s Against the Spread Record After a Bye

Zac Taylor, who is a part of the McVay coaching tree, has not experienced a bye week in the NFL playoffs in his career.

However, in the regular season he is 1-2 ATS the spread after a bye week. Taylor and the Bengals have been riding hot since upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs back in the regular season, as they picked up back-to-back straight-up upsets in the playoffs.

Taylor has shown this season that his team can cover as an underdog (8-3 ATS), but can they get him back to .500 after a week off?

Rams vs. Bengals Odds for Super Bowl 2022

WynnBET Sportsbook has the Rams set as four-point favorites in Super Bowl 56 with the total in the game set at 48.5.

The total has moved a whole point since opening at 49.5 earlier in the week.

Los Angeles covered in its first two playoffs wins this season, but it failed to do so as 3.5-point favorites in the NFC Championship Game. Cincinnati, on the other hand, is a perfect 3-0 against the spread on its run to this year’s Super Bowl.
