Stefon Diggs vs. A.J Brown: Who Will Have More Receiving Yards in Bills vs. Titans?
By Matt De Saro
Monday Night Football in Week 6 provides bettors with a great matchup between the Super Bowl hopeful Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans, who currently lead the AFC South.
Buffalo is on a tear heading into this game, having won four in a row after losing a heartbreaker to the Steelers in Week 1.
One thing these teams have in common is strong wide receivers on the roster, specifically Stefon Diggs for the Bills and A.J. Brown for the Titans. So, which of these two stud receivers has a better game this week to end Week 6 of the NFL season?
Let’s take a look at there in the passing game, with odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, and pick one of these two receivers to show out on Monday night.
Diggs enters this Monday Night Football game with an O/U of 84.5 receiving yards after a very strange game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football Week 5 with just two catches on five targets. He made the most of those two catches, however, totaling 69 yards for an average of 34.5 yards per catch.
Despite breaking the only two plays he made, this was a very un-Diggs-like performance from a guy who hasn’t seen less than eight targets and four receptions all season. Prior to that game, Diggs has been targeted in double digits on three occasions, with the latest being an 11 target game which saw him catch seven passes for 114 yards.
Through the first four weeks of the season, Diggs averaged 10.5 targets per game though his catch rate was just at 6.5 per game. The Titans' defense has been average against the pass this season but is 28th in passing yards given up this season despite ranking eighth in completion percentage.
This tells me that the Titans are a bit of a boom or bust defense in the sense that if you manage to catch a ball, you will have space to work. This plays into Diggs whole skillset as a player you do not want to allow to get possession of the ball or he can ruin your night quickly.
The Titans have allowed at least six receptions to every No. 1 receiver they have faced this year and Diggs will be looking for a bounce-back game after last week’s quiet outing.
On the other side of the conversation stands Titans receiver A.J. Brown. Brown’s total for this game is 59.5 receiving yards.
While the Titans have a mediocre defense, the Bills have one of the most dominant. The second-best pass defense in the NFL to be exact. The Titans have a tendency to rely heavily on Derrick Henry to carry the ball for them but the Bills also have a killer run defense. So, it might be tougher for them to ride Henry as usual. This would mean that players like Brown would be in line for an expanded role. However, there is a problem here too.
Brown is dealing with a hamstring issue which anyone who has had one can attest to them being hard to shake. That in combination with the Bills defense makes this an easy call. Bet OVER on Diggs and UNDER on Brown.
