3 Survivor Picks to Use If You Initially Selected the Steelers

For those of you still alive in your "Survivor" pools, your choices for Week 10 may have become more difficult.

One of the more popular selections in the NFL this week was the Pittsburgh Steelers, who host the NFL-worst Detroit Lions at Heinz Field this afternoon. While the Steelers were never a no shoe-in for a victory, the Lions have picked up some serious momentum this week

After opening as 9-point road dogs, Detroit has roared all the way to +5.5 on WynnBET; a 3.5-point swing in the odds. This is due to Ben Roethlisberger not playing due to being placed in the league's Reserve/COVID-19 list, making backup Mason Rudolph the starter instead.

As our Brian Guiffra wrote earlier today, the oddsmakers clearly don't see Roethlisberger's absence as a major factor, compared to the line movement when Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott were out the previous two weeks. But, if you chose the Steelers this week in Survivor, should you look to change out teams?

If you're on the fence, here are three others to consider.

Week 10 Survivor Picks

  • Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons
  • Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington Football Team

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are 8-point favorites this week at home against the Atlanta Falcons a week after losing outright to the Denver Broncos at home as 9.5-point favorites. It was the most uncharacteristic game of the season for Dak Prescott and Dallas with multiple turnovers, bad decisions on offense, and just a whole lot of rustiness for a team that entered Week 9 undefeated vs. the spread.

The Falcons, meanwhile are coming off a monster road win at New Orleans and have appeared to find an effective offensive game plan with Matt Ryan, Kyle Pitts and the versatile Cordarrelle Patterson.

With Dallas being the far superior and more talented team, as well as Atlanta playing a second straight game on the road, I view the Cowboys as the safest Survivor team on the board in Week 10, even ahead of the Buffalo Bills as 12.5-point road favorites.

Indianapolis Colts

Several bettors view Indy on upset alert against Jacksonville, which enters today's game fresh off a massive home upset against Buffalo in Week 9. As of Saturday night, WynnBET announced the Jaguars as their top liability before the New York Jets moneyline (+475) came in today against the Bills.

Since 2018, the first year that Frank Reich took over in Indianapolis, the Colts are 19-5 straight-up as a home favorite. That's a winning percentage just south of 80%. The Jaguars are likely overvalued thanks to their stunner of a win last week, but Indy should be a safe pick at home this week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Washington hasn't just been bad this year, it's been awful for bettors as well.

The Football Team has the worst ATS record in the league at 1-7-0, as well as going just 2-6 on the season with a point differential of -71. They host the Buccaneers coming off a bye with a point differential of +77.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady has been very effective lately coming off a bye with four consecutive covers ATS. While "Survivor" contestants just need a straight-up win, it's good to know that Brady, a constant favorite, has handled the pressure well in these spots over the last several years.
