Everyone who bets on the sport of golf dreams of hitting a big winner.

Sure, we should probably bet on some golfers who are close to the of the oddsboard, and I gave a few of those out here. But, let's get crazy and try to find a longshot golfer that can pull off the improbable. I successfully bet on Cameron Champ to win the 2021 3M Open at 100/1, and I've been chasing that high ever since.

Wyndham Clark also proved that longshots can still win major championships when he won last month's U.S. Open at around 100/1 as well.

So, I have dove into the numbers and found one dark horse golfer that I'm choosing as my sleep candiadate to win this week's Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

That golfer is Brian Harman.

There you have it. I am selecting the lefty, Brian Harman, as my crazy longshot pick of the week. Before you tear me apart, hear me out.

He has quietly been in fantastic form in recent weeks. In his last three starts, he has finished T2, T9, and T12 at last week's Scottish Open. Over that span, his putter has been on fire and he gained over a stroke per round on the field with his approach game in two of those tournaments.

"Yeah, but Iain, there's no chance he's ever going to compete at a major!"

Oh, he isn't? What would you say if I told you he finished T19 and T6 at the last two Open Championships? He also finished T2 at the 2017 US Open. He has actually proven more than once that at the right course, he can in fact compete at the big time events.

Harman is also part of the handful of golfers who competed at the Open the last time it was held at Royal Liverpool in 2014. He had a respectable showing that year, finishing T26.

So, why not him?!

If I've convinced you that he's at least going to have a strong showing, but you don't want to bet on him to win, there are different ways you can go. For example, you could just take him to finish in the top 20 (if you're a coward).
