Most of the time, you want to win the coin toss in an NFL game, as it allows your team to dictate when you get the ball and help execute a game plan based on receiving or deferring to the second half.

The Cincinnati Bengals won the coin toss in Super Bowl 56 against the Los Angeles Rams, but they ended up coming up short in the Rams' 23-20 victory.

Cincinnati's loss marked the eighth straight year that the team that won the coin toss went on to lose the Super Bowl. So, maybe you do want to lose the toss?

This is one of the many crazy trends in the NFL's biggest game, as the team wearing dark colored jerseys has also struggled in the Super Bowl, winning just three of the last 21 Super Bowls!

After winning the toss in Super Bowl 56, the Bengals elected to defer, and it turned out to be the right call for the sake of the outcome, as Cincy scored on the opening drive of the second half to go ahead 17-13 and then intercepted Matthew Stafford to set up a field goal to take a 20-13 lead.

However, the Bengals' offense sputtered after that, failing to score and forcing Joe Burrow to take several sacks.

It will be interesting to see if the coin toss trend keeps up next season, but it may be worth bettors placing a live bet at WynnBET in next year's game after the winner of the coin toss is determined.
