Best Home Run Picks for Tuesday, April 12
- Jose Altuve (+330)
- Kyle Tucker (+390)
- Yordan Alvarez (+360)
- Max Muncy (+270)
- Brad Miller (+300)
Jose Altuve (+330) - Houston Astros vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Jose Altuve has gotten off to a rough start in the 2022 season, hitting just .083, but he does have a home run to his name.
Tonight, Altuve and the Houston Astros face Madison Bumgarner and the Arizona Diamondbacks, and I think he has a solid chance to go yard in this matchup. Bumgarner struggled with limiting the longball last season, allowing 24 homers in 26 starts, and Altuve hits lefties pretty well in his career.
Last season he had seven homers and slugged .455 against left-handed pitching, and for his career he is much better against lefties than righties, posting a .880 OPS and .498 slugging percentage.
I think Altuve could break out of his slump with a bomb on Tuesday night. -- Peter Dewey
Kyle Tucker (+390) - Houston Astros vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Kyle Tucker hit 30 dingers last season, and all signs point to him improving on that mark this year. He's already hit two home runs, and now he faces Madison Bumgarner who allowed 1.5 home runs per nine innings pitched last season.
I have faith in the 25-year old to keep the hot streak going tonight. -- Iain MacMillan
Yordan Alvarez (+360) - Houston Astros vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Alvarez is a threat to go yard at anytime but Tuesday is the perfect storm against a washed up Madison Bumgarner, who has allowed more home runs per 9 innings the past two years on average since his rookie season.
Alvarez does a fine job of crushing lefties, posting an elite slugging percentage against both southpaws (.571) and righties (.576). In a hitter friendly park of Chase Field, I think Alvarez is a good bet to go deep. -- Reed Wallach
Max Muncy (+310) - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Minnesota Twins
Muncy hasn’t hit a home run yet this season, but tonight’s matchup is one he likes. Muncy hit 25 of his 26 homer’s last season against right-handed pitchers, which Chris Archer is.
Muncy is one of the top home run hitters on the team and taking a chance on him to go yard tonight makes sense. Archer only pitched in six games last season and gave up three home runs in those games. He’s still working his way back into the groove of things, and Muncy will take advantage. -- Donnavan Smoot
Brad Miller (+300) - Colorado Rockies vs. Texas Rangers
Miller has already gotten off to a rip-roaring start at barreling up baseballs, and now faces Chad Kuhl who has had his issues with command and could find himself in a lot of hitter-friendly counts in a hitter-friendly park in Texas.
So far this season, Miller has a hard hit percentage of 54.3%, and an expected slugging slugging percentage of .910. He's also barreling up his hits. Via MLB Statcast, Miller is contacting pitches in the sweet spot of the bat 45.5% of the time in the early going.
Let's get off the schneid tonight and grab our first dinger of the year with Miller!
