Tigers vs. Twins Prediction and Odds for Thursday, April 28 (Bet Skubal and Ober to Dominate)
By Matt De Saro
The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers are two AL Central teams on divergent paths on the leaderboard.
The Twins currently lead the division at 10-8 after going on a six-game winning streak. They swept the Chicago White Sox and look to do the same vs. the Tigers this afternoon.
Detroit, on the other hand, are losers of four in a row and seven of their last 10 games overall. They went from 4-4 to 6-11 in a hurry. The Tigers are tied with the White Sox for the worst record in the division.
While these two teams are in different spots, the starting pitchers are matched up very well today. Tarik Skubal and Bailey Ober are young, hungry, and playing very well in their first few weeks.

Tigers vs. Twins Prediction and Pick
Skubal and Ober could put together an epic pitching duel tonight in what would otherwise be a missable game. Skubal is 1-1 with a 2.30 ERA and 1.09 WHIP for the Tigers in his first 15 ⅔ innings. But, Skubal hasn’t given up an earned run since a disastrous first start.
In his last 11 ⅔ innings, Skubal’s ERA is spotless. He also struck out 13 while not issuing a single walk in those last two games. The Twins' offense is gaining traction, but remains in the bottom third in the league in terms of average and runs scored.
Ober is having a very similar season so far. He is 1-1 with a 2.81 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Ober also got beat up in his first start, only to recover with two gems against the White Sox and Red Sox. In his last 11 innings, his only blip was a solo shot to Andrew Vaughn in the fifth inning of his last start.
He struck out nine and walked one in that span. He should enjoy another strong start with the Detroing offense continuing to struggle. They rank 25th in runs per game despite hitting for a decent average and OBP. They struggle to move runners along and strand an average of 3.13 runners per game.
I’m going to fade both of these offenses against such hot pitching. I don’t expect either team to generate much at the plate. Meanwhile, Skubal and Ober could have quite the battle on the mound.
Pick: UNDER 7 (-105)
