Top MLB Picks and Predictions Today (Back Red Sox, Reds and One Total on Sunday)
Baseball fans, there is just one final day of games before the league's All-Star break, which means you have to get in on the action on Sunday!
The BetSided team has previews for every game in MLB today, and we're looking forward to entering the break on a high note.
Here are our team's top picks for some of the matchup in Major League Baseball on Sunday, July 17:
Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction and Pick
Chris Archer is no longer the dominant pitcher he once was, but he’s been fantastic for the Twins in a shortened role this season.
Archer has pitched past the fourth innings just four times all season, but he’s gotten the job done in those innings allowing more than two runs in just two of his 15 starts.
That, coupled with the fact that Dylan Cease has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, has me leaning towards the UNDER in the first five innings.
Cease has given up more than two runs in a few starts, but they were all unearned over the last two months, giving me hope that he can have a shutdown game if the Chicago defense holds up.
Lean: First Five Innings UNDER 4.5 (-125) -- Peter Dewey

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees Prediction and Pick
The Yankees haven't looked as dominant of late, playing sub-.500 baseball dating back to last week when the Red Sox took two of three from them in Boston. With Chris Sale back, I expect him to take advantage of a strong Yankees lineup that does have its fair share of struggles against left handed pitching.
The Yanks are hitting just .242 against southpaws this seasons, 18th in the big leagues. While the team will have their ace Gerrit Cole, I'm not backing him at a near -200 price tag given his struggles with the Red Sox as recently as this month.
The Red Sox tagged Cole for five earned runs over six innings and Cole's issue with allowing home runs could be an issue against the Red Sox who are one of the best power hitting clubs in baseball. The Yankees star has allowed 16 homers already this season, one of the highest rates of his career (1.4 per 9 innings).
There aren't going to be many opportunities to get Sale at this number, who isn't showing lingering effects from his early season injury, I'm jumping on it.
LEAN: Red Sox (+165) -- Reed Wallach

Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction and Pick
The Cardinals offense is struggling a bit as of late, ranking 19th in OPS and 20th in runs scored over the last 15 days. The Cards will also likely be without Nolan Arenado, who is dealing with a lower back injury heading into the All-Star break.
Steven Matz had not been impressive prior to landing on the IL, tossing more than six innings just one time in nine starts through the first two months of the season.
Graham Ashcraft, who has gotten knocked around a bit after a hot start to the season, has posted three outings in his last four with three or fewer runs allowed. That could spell trouble for this St. Louis offense that is laboring into the Midsummer Classic.
I’m not a believer in the Reds to win this game, as they simply are a bad team overall (hence their record), but I do think they can keep this game close.
