We have a jam-packed Major League Baseball slate on Tuesday, and BetSided's Joe Summers, Reed Wallach and Peter Dewey have a few picks for you to make for tonight's action.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets face off in a marquee matchup, while another NL East team, the Atlanta Braves, looks to keep the pace with New York in the division.

Thinking of betting on one of these matchups? We have picks for those games and more, with odds from WynnBET:

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets Odds, Prediction and Pick

Any day we get to back the Dodgers at a short price is a good day. Despite being just -134 on the moneyline, there's several reasons to feel comfortable betting Los Angeles.

Let's start with the pitching matchup. Andrew Heaney has 10 strikeouts in each of his last two starts, settling in nicely to the Dodgers' rotation. Los Angeles is 5-1 over his last six outings as he's yet to surrender more than three runs in a game.

With an expected FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) below 2.50 in each of his last three starts, Heaney is in much stronger form than Taijuan Walker. Check out Walker's expected FIP from each outing since the end of July:

  • 8/23 @ NYY: 4.89
  • 8/16 @ ATL: 7.59
  • 8/10 vs CIN: 5.17
  • 8/05 vs ATL: 13.46
  • 7/31 @ MIA: 5.10
  • 7/26 vs NYY: 5.08

Marco Gonzales' 4.88 expected FIP is the worst among all qualified starters, so Walker has been MLB's worst starting pitcher for over a month. That, um, doesn't bode well against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles has one of the best collections of offensive talent we've ever seen. Walker might not make it out of the third inning with how he's pitching. Meanwhile, the Mets are 26th in OPS against left-handed pitchers this month.

Look for the Dodgers to earn a convincing win to improve to 80-48 on the run line this season.

Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves Odds, Prediction and Pick

There is way too much juice to even bet the Braves on the run line here, so instead I’m going to back their team total OVER at even money.

Jose Ureña has been one of the worst pitchers in baseball this month with a 7.88 ERA. He gave up nine runs in just 1.1 innings of work in a loss to the Texas Rangers in his last start, and he has a horrible 1.67 WHIP.

The Rockies also have the worst bullpen ERA in all of baseball this season. When you have the team with the No. 2 OPS No. 2 scoring offense in baseball in this matchup, you expect a high- scoring game, at least on one side.

LEAN: Braves Team Total OVER 5.5 Runs (+100) -- Peter Dewey

Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers Odds, Prediction and Pick

Both pitchers should be able to put together strong starts on Tuesday. We'll start with Framber Valdez, who is one of the most underrated starts in the big leagues. Like I mentioned, he has a 2.65 ERA, generating a ton of soft contact and limiting trouble on the base paths (less than seven hits per nine innings).

Valdez has a 1.98 ERA over his last four starts across the month of August and I like him to keep it going in the series opener.

Meanwhile, Dane Dunning has also been underrated this season. The Rangers right-hander has not been fazed by the AL's best team, allowing just two runs across 11.2 in two starts against Houston in 2022. He is also significantly better at home than on the road, posting a 3.21 ERA this season, more than two runs lower than when he leaves Globe Life FIeld.

The Rangers are 11 games under .500 so it may be a futile effort backing them to take down the vaunted Astros, but they can keep this close and to a low scoring meeting.
