Miami Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction and Pick
This one of the more intriguing pitching matchups on the schedule tonight. Pablo Lopez comes in with a 2.61 ERA and 5-3 record in 14 starts this year working nicely as a one-two punch at the top of the Marlins rotation with Sandy Alcantara.
Adam Wainwright is in his age 40 season and is still finding success. He is 5-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 14 starts. This top notch pitching matchup explains the very low, 7.5 run total for this one.
St. Louis and Miami have been nearly identical over their last ten games. The Cardinals are 4-6, hitting .244 and have a 4.03 ERA. The Marlins are a game better at 5-5 are hitting slightly better at .254 and have a 4.03 ERA. Both teams have been outscored over the stretch of games.
With teams that appear to be this dead even, at least as of late, I’m going to look at the plus odds. It is even better if I get a marginal advantage on the mound, like I do with Lopez today. That makes this pick one for some upside taking the underdog.

Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees Prediction and Pick
I am taking the UNDER in this game and I won’t look back.
The Yankees have really struggled hitting the ball, going 16.1 innings without A HIT over the weekend against the Astros.
Paul Blackburn was tagged for seven runs in his last start, but he’s allowed over three runs just three times in 11 outings this season. Jordan Montgomery has also been impressive, holding opponents to under four runs in all but one start (he’s made 14 this season).
Oakland ranks dead last in baseball in OPS this season and 29th in runs scored. With the Yankees slumping and Blackburn on the mound, I think both of these teams struggle to score on Monday night.
Lean: UNDER 8.5 (-110) -- Peter Dewey

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Colorado Rockies Prediction and Pick
Chad Kuhl is the rare Rockies pitcher that's actually better at home than away, compiling a 3.29 ERA at Coors Field and a 4.39 ERA on the road. Colorado hasn't been able to support him, however, and are 1-8 in his last nine starts. In six of those starts, the Rockies scored one or zero runs.
I expect their lineup to struggle again today against Tyler Anderson, who is sort of the forgotten man in the Dodgers' incredible rotation despite an unbeaten record. But make no mistake, the 32-year-old lefty is enjoying a superb season.
Anderson allowed one or fewer runs in four of his last six starts, including a near no-hitter, and his 3.10 expected ERA is tied with AL Cy Young favorite, Justin Verlander.
The guy has been fantastic, and I think the Dodgers take care of business today. They've won five straight on the run line as road favorites and the Rockies' offense has proven it can't be trusted with Kuhl on the mound. Colorado has been outscored 48-20 in his last nine outings, so I'll roll with Los Angeles at -1.5.
But I also love the under. The Dodgers have struggled with situational hitting but feature perhaps the best pitching staff in MLB. As a result, the under is 9-4-1 in their last 14 as road favorites, while it's 6-2 in the Rockies' last eight as home underdogs and 4-1 in Kuhl's starts at Coors Field.
I'll be playing the bets individually, but a same-game parlay has odds of +227 (Bet $10 to win $22.70) if that tickles your fancy.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-140) and Under 11.5 (-110) -- Joe Summers
