Things have gone from good to bad in Cleveland and now they’re starting to get ugly as the team has lost five in a row and conceded first place in the division and a three-game lead right back to the Minnesota Twins. All this comes after taking two of three and first place from Minnesota a week ago.

Minnesota took Game 1 of this series and that sets up a day/night double header for Games 2 and 3. Game 2 will be started by Konnor Pilkington for Cleveland, and Josh Winder for Minnesota.

Matt De Saro has the prediction and pick for Game 1 of the double header today.

Twins vs. Guardians Prediction and Pick

Josh Winder has not pitched for Minnesota since May 17. He has made seven appearances, three of them starts. He gets the call-up to start in the doubleheader likely because two of the three starts he did have in May, went really well. He went six innings in both with no earned runs and only two hits in one, three hits in the other. He is clearly capable of giving quality starts to Minnesota.

Konnor Pilkington had been a regular in the Guardian rotation since the end of May and Cleveland has won all three of his starts this month, but has not pitched in the majors since June 15.

Game 2 of a doubleheader can always get interesting, especially when both sides make a call-up for the start. This one clearly has two pitchers capable of making good starts, but the likelihood that they both do is low. If the bullpens are a little taxed from Game 1, then this could get out of hand and we could see a position player pitching tonight.

Pick: Over 9.0 (-110)
