Anything can happen at a major tournament. We've seen long shots win before, and we'll see long shots win again.

If you want my full breakdown of the 2022 U.S. Open as well as best outright picks, check out my betting preview here.

In this article, I'm going to point out three dark horse golfers that you should target. Whether you sprinkle on them to win, bet on them to finish in the top 20, or use them in your DFS lineups and pools, these are three golfers you shouldn't overlook at The Country Club.

All odds listed are via WynnBET Sportsbook.

2022 U.S. Open Longshot Picks

Russell Henley +11000

As I pointed out in my betting preview, strokes gained: tee-to-green is paramount at the U.S. Open year in and year out. Anyone who ranks near the top in the statistic, has a shot to compete at Brookline this week.

Russell Henley enters the week ranking 14th on Tour in that stat, including second in strokes gained: approach the green. To be fair, he's 110th in strokes gained: off-the-tee, but Brookline does seem to favor accuracy slightly more than distance, and he's 23rd in driving accuracy.

If you don't want to bet on him to win outright, he's available at a tempting price of +375 to finish in the top 20.

Luke List +15000

Much like Henley, Luke List is fantastic tee-to-green. His putting is completely abhorrent, ranking 202nd in strokes gained: putting, but if he can get his flat stick going even a little bit, he could compete this week.

He ranks 6th on Tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green and 11th in strokes gained: off-the-tee. He finished a respectable T41 at the PGA Championship, but Brookline should fit his style of play even more than Southern Hills.

Sebastian Munoz +15000

Sebastian Munoz is a little bit of a more balanced version of Luke List. He's not quite as good off the tee, but his short game is a little bit better. He ranks in the top 50 in both strokes gained: tee-to-green and strokes gained: off-the-tee.

He also already has three top five finishes this season, and is coming off a solid T25 finish at the RBC Canadian Open. Finally, he hasn't missed a cut since the American Express back in January.
