The College Football season is drawing closer, and it's time to get that futures portfolio set.

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud has passed 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young at the top of the odds board, sitting at +200 heading into the season. On the heels of a 44 touchdown season, Stroud is the favorite to lift the hardware this season.

It appears to be a two player race heading into the season, but is there a long shot worth taking? Here is the full list of odds from DraftKings Sportsbooks with the season just five weeks away.

Ohio State, Alabama Dominance Make Stroud, Young Likely Heisman Trophy Winners

Alabama is the favorite to win the National Championship this season, +180 at DraftKings, with Ohio State right behind them at +300. However, oddsmakers are factoring in that there has only been one back-to-back winner (Archie Griffin), holding back Young's odds.

While Young has a loaded offense on the title favorite, it's Stroud who will likely get the recognition this season. He will be passing the ball to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is +2500 to win the Heisman, and should only improve off of his 4,435-yard season in which he completed 71.9% of his passes. The Buckeyes are -210 to win the Big Ten this season.

Can a Non Quarterback Win Heisman Trophy?

Bijan Robinson is the best running back in the country, and plays for one of the biggest brands in the sport, but he likely will come up short in his Heisman bid with the Big 12 providing several worthy contenders this season.

Meanwhile, both aforementioned quarterbacks have teammates in the mix for the award. Alabama pass rusher Will Anderson will surely be in the mix for the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and +2000 for the award, but in an offensive-driven sport, I don't expect him to be anything more than a finalist.

Smith-Njigba exploded at the Rose Bowl, catching 15 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns. That performance capped off a 95-catch, 1,606 yard season for the 6' wide out.

We saw DeVonta Smith win the Heisman two years ago on one of the best offenses ever. Can the Buckeyes receiver see something similar play out this season?
