U.S. Open Cut Line Prediction (What Will Golfers Need to Shoot to Make the Cut)

The U.S. Open is this week, and one of the best parts about watching this event every year is seeing how much professional golfers struggle at the USGA event.

The USGA, which runs the U.S. Open, loves to make the course play as hard as they can. As a result, the winner is usually only a few strokes under par. If you want to see my winning score prediction, check out my article here.

In this story, I'm going to break down where I think the cut line is going to be this week.

What Will be the U.S. Open Cut Line?

The winners of the last two U.S. Opens won with a score of 6-under par. If we expect a similar outcome in 2022, we can probably get a solid estimate of where the cut line will be by taking a look at the last two events.

The cut at the 2021 event at Torrey Pines was +4, and the cut at the 2020 event at Winged Foot was +6.

Bryson DeChambeau's winning score at Winged Foot was -6, but the course played much tougher than that. The runner-up was Matthew Wolff, who finished at even par. DeChambeau was the only golfer to shoot under par.

With that in mind, I don't think Brookline will play as tough as Winged Foot, so I don't think the cut line will be at +6. Instead, I'm going to predict the cut to be the same as it was at Torrey Pines last year. I think this year's event will play similarly to last year's

It's also important to note, that the last time the U.S. Open was hosted at The Country Club, the cut was also at +4.

I think we're going to see it at the same number in 2022.
