Utah vs. BYU Odds and Prediction for College Football Week 2
By Thomas Snodgrass
It’s Week 2 of the season and it’s time for the Holy War! The Utah Utes are heading into Provo, Utah to face the BYU Cougars to see who will take home the Beehive Boot.
This rivalry has a rich tradition in “the Beehive State," with Utah leading the all-time series 62-34-4, winning the last edition in 2019 by a score of 30 to 12.
Last week, No. 24-ranked Utah beat up on the FCS program Weber State, 40-17. The Utes' offense was led by Quarterback Charlie Brewer, who threw for 233 yards, and two touchdowns before being relieved late in the game. You may remember Brewer from his days in Waco, when he was chucking the pigskin for Baylor before he transferred to Utah.
BYU began the post-Zach Wilson era with a 24-16 win over the Arizona Wildcats. The new man under center is Jaren Hall, who looked more than capable of leading his offense, throwing for 198 yards and two touchdowns, picking up 36 more yards on the ground.
The Cougars defense did a great job of keeping the Wildcats passing game in check, only allowing one passing touchdown on the night, even after giving up 345 passing yards.

Utah vs. BYU Prediction and Pick
It would appear that life after Zach Wilson may not be that scary for BYU. Jarren Hall is a more than competent QB, Tyler Allgeier is a steady running back and Kalani Sitake’s defense looks like it can hold its own against quality opponents.
Utah beat Weber State, and there’s only so much you can pick up from that. The win in the record books looks just as good as every other 1-0 team, but the Utes were just 3-2 in last year's shortened season.
BYU beat Arizona, and no, that Arizona team won’t be compared to Knute Rockne’s Fighting Irish, but the Cougars beat a Power-5 conference school right out of the gates.
I’ll say that BYU will take that Beehive Boot, and I will take them on the moneyline at WynnBET, at +225. Of course, I’ll be taking that spread, too, at +7.0.
