Vegas Doesn't Buy the Bears as a Playoff Team, Let Alone Finish at .500

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy may have beaten the Detroit Lions to improve to 2-2, but Vegas doesn't expect many more wins for Chicago this year.

Chicago Bears fans appear to have reached their breaking point with their head coach and General Manager.

They've actively voiced their displeasure with Matt Nagy along with Ryan Pace since the middle of the team's six-game losing streak last season. The Bears made the postseason as an 8-8 team, but got demolished by the Saints in the Wild Card round. Despite the team going backwards since Nagy's first season where the Bears went 12-4 in Mitchell Trubisky's second year, Chicago has made the playoffs in two of Nagy's three seasons as head coach, as well as never finishing with a losing season.

The oddsmakers, however, doesn't see that happening again in 2021.

Over at WynnBET Sportsbook, the Bears' updated win total for the season sits at 6.5 games, split evenly between the "over" and "under." That's down two full games from 8.5 at the start of the season despite playing .500 football.

Meanwhile, Chicago has fallen all the way back to +1200 to win the NFC North division, trailing Green Bay (-550) and Minnesota (+550) with only the lowly Lions behind them at +10000 to win the division. The Bears opened the season expected to finish in third, but only at odds hovering between +350 and +400.

How do the Bears right the ship the rest of the 2021 season?

Chicago is 2-2 on the year and take on the Las Vegas Raiders on the road next Sunday as five-point underdogs at WynnBET. Justin Fields, their first-round quarterback and future of their franchise, is being treated like he's ill-equipped to start an NFL game with veteran Andy Dalton remaining the starter once he returns from a knee injury. This despite Fields having a strong turnaround performance against the Lions in Chicago during Week 4.

The Bears also lost their best offensive playmaker so far in 2021 in running back David Montgomery. The third-year running back went down with a knee sprain against Detroit in Week 4 and will miss the next 4-5 weeks. Damien Williams and rookie Khalil Herbert are expected to share the snaps moving forward.
